LETTER OF APPRECIATION – HOUSE RENOVATION

This letter is intended to express my appreciation for the dedicated efforts, the hard work and the outstanding quality of service provided by yourself and your staff in the renovation of my house, from October 2004 to June 2005. It is with my extensive experience on team building efforts, project management and leadership, acquired through 27 years as an officer in the Canadian Air Force, that I have evaluated the job performance of my contractor. My spouse and I have had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Ghislain Morin for two years now. It has been on a professional level that our friendship has flourished in the past nine months, while the renovation took place. Because it involved major renovation and the fact that a multitude of unexpected issues were addressed professionally and all problems were solved to my complete satisfaction, I had plenty of opportunities to assess the work done. It is with the highest recommendation that I write this letter with a character reference of Ghislain Morin.

Initially, the recommendation to contract the services of Les Construction Ghislain Morin came from someone known to possess very high personal standards. With a construction project in mind, this person had already completed an intensive research of all the potential contractors in the geographical area along with their credentials. Before making a final decision, my spouse and I decided to meet with Ghislain Morin, on July 2003, to discuss the quality of his past achievements and his qualifications. Later, we discussed the exact specifications of the job and plenty of details were provided before the deal was made. He clearly demonstrated that he is an excellent advisor. Firstly, with a thorough analysis of the project and potential challenges, he adroitly assessed the corrective solutions, which is reflective of extremely good judgement. Secondly, through a comprehensive estimate of required material and labour, he ensured the required resources were available to properly complete the renovation project, on schedule and within budget. In spite of proper planning from my part and because of the nature of this work, as the renovation progressed, unexpected issues and problems made the estimated cost to escaladed. However, he quickly made us comfortable with the situation by explaining we did not have to do everything at once and suggested a detailed prioritized plan would help us schedule the work in small, affordable phases.

On a professional level, I have been able to see the true character of Ghislain, whom I feel is a man of integrity and honesty. He is a highly respected member of his community; know for his loyalty and dependability, both as a citizen and as a contractor. He has a strong sense of teamwork and possesses a special sensitivity when dealing with others. He is a personable, enthousiastic and dedicated individual. Realizing that good work requires ongoing discussion, he always informed me of important issues and at all times facilitated the negotiation of solutions. I have personally witnessed many situations that have proven he is a hard-working and very dependable person. For instance, as extra funds became available to allow to start of another phase from the prioritized plan; he dedicated many hours of conscientious work to assure a superb job and to keep the overall renovation project on schedule. Other instances that come to mind; he promoted economy and efficiency; and he showed very good allocation of resources. He works very well with his employees, fostering a high spirit of teamwork resulting in every member of his team taking great pride in completing their tasks to the best of their capability.

At work, I had the opportunity to see that he handled the many different situations with enthusiasm and motivation, and when combined with his natural abilities it always results in complete success for both his client and employees. He has always listened carefully to my requirements, providing excellent leadership with clear explanations especially on safety issues. Very quick to recognize important situations, Ghislain immediately initiated corrective action before a minor problem became a major issue. He demonstrated repeatedly a strict adherence to security codes and building regulations. Because of his continuous vigilance and attention to details, he discovered a serious electrical problem made by a previous contractor, he immediately brought it to my attention and he quickly made arrangements to fix it, preventing my home insurance to be voided by such critical breach of the electrical code. His support to the renovation, resulting from exceptional work demands to resolve unforeseen critical problems from the original construction of the house, is the finest example of dedication and acceptance of responsibility I have observed. His reactions were exemplary as he worked countless extra hours to meet my expectations and to ensure no detail was overlooked.

During my military career, I have lived in many provinces and worked with many people, allowing me to see many home renovations turn bad. Many contractors are skilled and reputable, but rare are those with a personal code of ethics that include loyalty, integrity and honesty. In my opinion, Ghislain Morin possess such a code of ethics and has all of the personal attributes, work ethics, people skills, professional credentials and experience that makes him an excellent contractor to completely satisfy your construction of renovation requirements, on schedule and within budget. I personally can not think of a better individual than Ghislain Morin and without hesitation, I would highly recommend him to a member of my family or a friend.
