A nature paradise

The Gatineau Valley is a territory of 13,798 square km covered with forests, lakes and rivers located North West of the Gatineau and Ottawa towns.

The region is located on the Laurentian plateau and its relief is constituted by hills, rocky Crete. Their high depends between 240 and 555 metres above the average sea level. There is a huge forest with about sixty different species. The most common are sugar maple, wild cherry, beech, ash, white birch and aspen. Before the intensive cutting, the white pine was dominating.

 

The Fauna is really rich. We can observe red foxes, black foxes, silver foxes, racoons, beavers, deer, mouse, black bears, etc. Also many different species of birds, buzzard, goose, loon, tit, partridge, blue heron, etc. For anglers you will find trout, lake trout, walleye, pike, bass, yellow perch.

 

The region has a typically continental climate, dry and cold all year round except for the 3 summer months. You will see a big difference in the temperature. It passes from 25 degree Celcius in July and minus 19.5 degree Celcius in January.
